Cercle Rouge in November

Thursday November 19, celebrate the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau at Cercle Rouge! Chef Pierre Landet has plans to tempt your palate with a prix fixe 3 course menu ($39.95). Each dish tells you a story of the region and can be enjoyed with a glass of our Beaujolais Nouveau picks: Antonin Rodet or the classic Georges Duboeuf.

Of course, if the Beaujolais Nouveau is here that means Thanksgiving is not too far behind. Cercle Rouge has three-course prix fixe menu ($49.95), bearing Chef Pierre Landet's French touch, that features such dishes as Pumpkin Ravioli, a delectable Organic Roasted Turkey with Foie Gras, and home-inspired Pecan Pie with pumpkin ice cream.

A la carte menus are available for both occasions and a special children's menu will be prepared for your Thanksgiving feast! To see full menus click here. For reservations, please call 212-226-6252.

That Old Time Montparnesse- Cercle Rouge

Just days before the eagerly awaited Taste of Tribeca (this coming Saturday, May 16!) a reader fills us in on the Cercle Rouge experience:

I was having serious flashbacks in Cercle Rouge the other day--it feels like a bit of Montparnesse. Bistros and brasseries are a dime-a-dozen in Manhattan but this one has a real air of authenticity. The chef, who makes regular rounds of the tables, confirms that he's genuine--hailing from Toulouse. I had a rich duck stew with green olives and a nice glass of red. It made me very happy on a rainy day. If it were a nicer day I would have loved sitting in the sidewalk cafe. I can see this becoming a regular stop. Great options for kids too--serious french fries of course.

Cercle Rouge

A good bistro can elicit a sigh of relief from a hungry, world-weary diner. An opinion from The New York Times' Frank Bruni can tell you a lot but somehow it just doesn't mean as much as a recommendation from a neighbor. Here is what one of our readers has to say about Cercle Rouge.

"Finally, something real, warm and cozy. The fantastic food doesn't hurt either, everything I have ever ordered here is fantastic, best steak around, my husband and I usually share the 34oz prime rib for two. We introduced ourselves to the Chef, Pierre, who very graciously spent a few minutes at our table. The rest of the staff is very friendly too. Just a very nice, casual bistro, no attitude here. You can tell that this place is full of regulars too. The perfect place to meet people from the neighborhood. We stopped at the bar for a drink on the way out because we ran into some friends. A great place for a fantastic glass of wine and superior meal."
